Local guidelines support the introduction of iron-rich foods, such as fortified infant cereals, as ideal first foods. Nestlé CERELAC Baby Rice contains single grains and is rich in iron, containing on average 50% of the RDI* per serve. When prepared, it has a smooth texture ideal for babies from 4 months. CERELAC also contains probiotic Bifidus BL, and can be easily mixed with a teaspoon of your baby’s favourite vegetable or fruit puree for a tasty variation. CERELAC Baby Rice is not recommended for infants under 4 months of age.

CERELAC is made with a special technology called CHE (Cereals Hydrolysed Enzymatically) which breaks down the carbohydrates into smaller components.
Made with carefully selected wholesome grains, CERELAC contains:
Iron: Containing an average of 50% of your baby’s iron RDI per serve, iron is a key mineral that supports the functioning of your baby’s immune system and assists in carrying oxygen within the body, such as the muscles and the brain.
Vitamin C: KKey antioxidant and can help the body absorb iron and assist in immune system functioning.
Probiotic Bifidus BL: A probiotic similar to those found in the digestive system of breastfed babies.
Include CERELAC as part of a varied diet.
Preparation
Wash your hands before preparing your baby’s food. Make sure all utensils (spoon, bowl) are thoroughly clean. Boil clean drinking water for 5 minutes. Allow to cool. Measure 60mL and pour lukewarm water^ into your baby’s bowl. Add 15g of CERELAC approx. 1.5 AU tablespoons. Stir until the cereal is a smooth consistency and feed immediately using a clean spoon. Discard any uneaten portion.
^ Water can be substituted with baby’s usual milk if desired. When prepared with breast milk, it may become more watery. Reduce quantity of breast milk added to achieve desired consistency.
Extra nutrients will be provided if made up with breast milk or infant formula.
Storage conditions
Close the sachet and box after each use and store, in a cool, dry place. Use within 30 days of opening. Contents may settle.
How to dispose
REDcycle and soft plastic recycling
Unfortunately, soft plastic recycling in Australia has temporarily paused.
Our soft plastic packaging carrying the REDcycle logo and an Australasian Recycling Label showing the packaging as conditionally recyclable is not recyclable at present.
This soft plastic packaging needs to be disposed of in a garbage bin until a soft plastic recycling solution is available. We apologise for any confusion this may cause.
In the short term, work is being done to hopefully get collection back up and running soon. For the medium term, we’re continuing to work with industry, the waste sector and governments towards better collection, and better processing, at scale.
Notice
Mothers should continue breastfeeding during and after introduction of complementary foods. As babies grow at different paces, health professionals should advise the parents on the appropriate time when their baby should start receiving complementary foods.
